Gathering of the Statewide Arts Community for a Day of Education and Advocacy on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the State Capitol in Atlanta, GA
Join the Arts Network and our partners in the arts and tourism industries for our annual day of advocacy. Contact us to get involved or to learn about becoming a sponsor!
This year it is critical to speak with legislators about the need to increase funding for the Georgia Council for the Arts. Read our joint statement with ArtsGeorgia on this issue. Please help advocate for the arts in Georgia by attending this event and letting your voice be heard in support of the arts community!
At Advocacy Day:
- Attend an Advocacy Luncheon with speakers, performers, and training!
- Hear from experts including: Tommy Usrey, President & CEO of the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council and the recipient of the 2013 Americans for the Arts Alene Valkanas Award for state arts advocacy!
- Learn powerful facts about the impact of the arts on communities (positive impacts on children & families, economic development, quality of life, health, and more!)
- Meet with your state legislators and help us make the case for the arts in Georgia!
You should plan to schedule meetings that day with your local legislator; we would appreciate it if you would let us know when your meetings are, so we can facilitate coordination between arts groups in neighboring areas.
The arts community is partnering with our friends in Georgia’s tourism industry for Tourism Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, January 28th. In these tough times, focusing on the positive economic impact of the arts as a vehicle which attracts tourism dollars to Georgia is a great way to convince skeptics of the need to invest in the arts now!
